GLADIATOR

First, this story’s background is Rome.
The main character is a man who is a general in the Roman army called Maximus.
After his last battle he wants to return to his family. But the new emperor Commodus hates Maximus, and kills his family. Soon Maximus is a prisoner, then a slave, and finally a gladiator. When Emperor Commodus joins Maximus in the area they fight for their lives.
I really interested in Rome. Because the name of the Roman people is so cool and their clothes and their building is too.
While I was reading this book, I can image the scenes and I enjoyed that.
This story is about a man and his family. The story made me moved. Especially, I really want to tell you about the end of the story because I really moved to the scene. However unfortunately I can’t! So please read this book!
This title is Gladiator. Have you ever heard this word? I think you have.
About a few years ago, the sandals which like gladiator’s shoes were in fashion in this country and the sandals had called Gladiator.  After I had read this book, the sandals seem so cool.

DR JEKYLL AND MR HYDE

This book is written by a famous Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson in 19th century and still has a strong power to show exactly how the person who has double personality is like. The main character Dr Jekyll is suffering with his mental condition within the same body there exists more than one distinct personality; one is good and the other is evil. How does it come to be there are two personalities within Dr Jekyll? You are definitely shocked to discover it.
This work is highly recommended to people who like mystery stories, also, it allows us to learn a term of psychology. After reading this book, I wondered if I had double personality. It is totally not as serious as Dr Jekyll but I found I am a little different when I speak English and Japanese. I am more positive and proud of myself when I speak English and I’m insecure when I speak Japanese. You may come to think these kind of things by reading this book.

Who is true muderer?

I think this story is so interesting. It became a one of my favorites. The story is elaborate, so I really enjoyed from the biginning to the last. I couldn't stop reading this. I like Logan, because she is serious and has strong pride in her work. She is so cool character. I am sure if it is made into a movie, it is absolutely interesting! Each character is individual.  For a moment I wondered if everyone is likely muderer. I really recommend this book! If you have a time, please read it!

Gone with the wind Part One & Two

This story is so famous and popular. I heard about this movie from my grandfather when I was a primary school student, but I didn’t interest in this movie at that time. I learned about world history at high school, I started interest in this movie so I chose this books in this time.
The main character of this story is the woman, called Scarlett.
When beautiful Scarlett O'Hara learns that Ashley Wilkes, the man she loves, is going to marry another woman, her broken heart seems far worse than the tragedies of the Civil War. However, one man knows her secret, and he wants her for himself.
This story is love story, but the background of this story is the Civil War so many unexpected things were happened in the story of the part one. These scenes were dark and fearful. And also the bad things were happen in the story of the part two.
She couldn’t forget about Ashley, so she didn’t realize who she loves. And the man knew that, but he loved her and he tried to tell her about that …
This story is might a little difficult but you should watch this movie or read this book because this story is famous in all over the world.
And I think I want to watch this movie someday.

Detective Work

This book was written by John Escott. As a title, this is detective story.

The main character is Paul. He is a 16-year-old boy and a student. He gets a job for the summer holiday at Repsom museum. There is a quite costly jewel. It is a hundred thousand pound diamond necklace that belongs to the Gilbertson family. However one day, the necklace is stolen by someone working in the museum. The police completely suspects Paul, so he begins to find the real thief.

To be honest, I don't very recommend this book. It was boring a bit than I thought. I wanted something to be excited a little more. I couldn't be satisfied enough, but the last of this story was interesting and surprising. The thief was unexpected person!

Christopher's Book

This is a book that is both historical and biographical.  The author (Joshua Kendall) shares his extensive research into the life of one a very important figure in both education, vocabulary, ethnography, and the American spirit.  It was Noah Webster who was an important voice for the idea of a united America.  Through many letters, newspapers, and editorial articles, Webster helped persuade the young America to become the United States of America.  Through it all, Webster battled depression, poverty, loneliness, and self doubt.

I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in truly understanding how America became such a powerful ideal for an indomitable spirit.

Gone with the Wind Part 2

‘Gone with the wind’ is a story of love and war (American Civil War) and one of the best-selling books all the time. ‘Gone with the Wind Part 2’ follows the story about Scarlett’s life after American Civil War. The author is of course Margaret Mitchel. ‘Gone with the Wind’ made her very famous.

I understood the meaning of the title when I finished reading. Southern lost the war and everything in South was destroyed and was taken by Yankees, who are from North. Everything in South had ‘Gone with the Wind’. But protagonist, Scarlett never gave up. She was brave and strong like a man. Many people disliked her because the stereotype about women at that type was feminine or weak. Scarlett did everything to save her family’s home place, Tara. Even people were cool with her.

If the war is over, we think the peace is coming. But it isn’t collect. Even the war was over, Yankees did horrible to Southern people. Yankees told them to pay very high tax. Yankees raped women in South. People murdered to save their lives. Now in Japan there is no war and most of live our lives happily. We never ever have to murder to save lives. This book tells us how wonderful it is to live happily and safely. Today is the anniversary of the end of the Pacific war. We should think about the war deeply and observe a minute of silence.

I recommend you to read this book. But before reading this one, you must read Part 1 of course! Maybe you can’t get the story without reading Part 1. There is my favorite phrase in Part 2. ‘I’ll think of it tomorrow at Tara, because tomorrow is another day.’

Gone with the Wind Part 1

‘Gone with the wind’ is a story of love and war (American civil war) and one of the best-selling books all the time. The author is Margaret Mitchel, who enjoyed writing and telling stories at an early age. ‘Gone with the wind’ is the only novel that she wrote ever. And this story made her really famous.

Scarlett was a beautiful and strong girl. She loved Ashley, who was from very rich family and she wanted to marry him. But this handsome, rich and intelligent man decided to marry different girl named Melanie. It shocked Scarlett very hard. The time has come Ashley had to go to fight. And the fear was getting to spread across the town. Of course for Scarlett, too…

The time of this story is American civil war. Scarlett and her family and friends were Southern where people agreed with having black people as slaves for their cotton plantations. But people from North and President Lincoln didn’t support their idea. That’s why the war broke out. However, it was clear that the South would lose. There were no factory to make weapons in South and had less experience about fighting than North. In spite that, they decided to fight.

I really recommend you to read this novel!!! It tells me about American civil war. Of course I have learnt it when I was in high school but I never knew its black side. Plus, the words impress me so much. One of my favorite is ‘But the past was the past.’ I can’t imagine I can think positively like that if I live in war time. I was impressed how strong and brave Scarlett was. Why don’t you think about the historical events and happenings over summer through reading this book?
