Birthday Party

This story was written in 1946. The writer and his or her friends were having dinner in a restaurant, and then one couple was came into there. The couple looked married. On that day husband's birthday, so wife was planning surprised party secreatly for him. A clerk brought a shiny cake to thier table and an orchestra began to playing birthday song with musical instrument. However he didn't like such a surprised one, so he said to her something. Moreover he crushed a cake. Finally she began cried. Seeing from gender point of view I think it's not equally. He was very proud of himself. I think they weren't love each other. They didn't know very well, because recently marriage by arrangement is more unusuall than before, but in this century it is quit natural. Even though in my opinion he should be glad about this situation though he didn't like it. If I had my husband or boyfriend do such a thing I'll break up with him because I can't accept his behavior. However,I was thought background of history, gender equally and so on. It is great oppotinity to think about these things.
