BIrthday Party

     In a short story, Birthday Party, there is a couple in a small restaurant. They look like a married couple, not romantic. The wife is cute, but the husband has a grimance and self-centered face. Today is his birthday, so she makes a surprise to celebrate him. A cake is brought to their table, and an orchestra performances a birthday song for him. She wants to make him happy, but he looks unhappy. He really doesn't like a surprise. He says something to her, and he is getting angry. The atmosphere of the reataurant becomes bad. Then, she bursts into tears.
     In my opinion, they aren't in love with each other. Although they didn't each other well, they got married, because they met and fell in love immediately. Now, he realizes they have a different standard. She likes making a surprise, but he doesn't like it. Moreover, this story was written in 1948. A big surprise is more unusual than now. He cares about what other people think, and he is embarrassed. He thinks he is stronger than her, so his attitude is too insolent. The relationship between he and she is not good. However, he should thank her. The reason for is that she celebrates his birthday from the bottom of her heart.
