I
understood the meaning of the title when I finished reading. Southern lost the
war and everything in South was destroyed and was taken by Yankees, who are
from North. Everything in South had ‘Gone with the Wind’. But protagonist,
Scarlett never gave up. She was brave and strong like a man. Many people disliked
her because the stereotype about women at that type was feminine or weak. Scarlett
did everything to save her family’s home place, Tara. Even people were cool
with her.
If the war is over, we think the peace is coming. But it isn’t collect.
Even the war was over, Yankees did horrible to Southern people. Yankees told
them to pay very high tax. Yankees raped women in South. People murdered to
save their lives. Now in Japan there is no war and most of live our lives
happily. We never ever have to murder to save lives. This book tells us how
wonderful it is to live happily and safely. Today is the anniversary of the end
of the Pacific war. We should think about the war deeply and observe a minute
of silence.
I
recommend you to read this book. But before reading this one, you must read
Part 1 of course! Maybe you can’t get the story without reading Part 1. There
is my favorite phrase in Part 2. ‘I’ll think of it tomorrow at Tara, because
tomorrow is another day.’
