Christopher's Book

This is a book that is both historical and biographical.  The author (Joshua Kendall) shares his extensive research into the life of one a very important figure in both education, vocabulary, ethnography, and the American spirit.  It was Noah Webster who was an important voice for the idea of a united America.  Through many letters, newspapers, and editorial articles, Webster helped persuade the young America to become the United States of America.  Through it all, Webster battled depression, poverty, loneliness, and self doubt.

I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in truly understanding how America became such a powerful ideal for an indomitable spirit.

  1. Hi Chris! I am interested in American history (especially 1900s, when the civil war happened) recently because I read 'Gone with the wind'. It seems that this book doesn't have to do with civil war but I would like to know and understand 'American Spirits'.
