Dublin People

There are two stories in the book. One is "Flat in Ringsend". The protagonist, Jo came to Dublin from countryside. She started working at post office and living in a flat which is like an apartment. Some girls lived there with Jo, and she were confused how to contact with the flatmates. After happening some conflicts, she realized that she didn't live WITH them. She enjoyed the freedom for a little while, and something happened to her. What could she do then? The other story is "Murmurs in Montrose". This story is about Gerry's surroundings. Gerry was a famous photographer. He gave himself over to drink, and he was an alcoholic. In order to driking too much, he had to be in the nursing home. On the day that Gerry came back, seven people were thinking about him. They were his mother, sibiling, wife, children and friends. They hoped that he would be cured, but they knew that he had never been like his former self. He couldn't face the reality. Until he came back from the nursing home, his wife were waiting. But she started thinking about her future. What happened to the family? Could he won against the temptation of driking?
The author, Maeve Binchy, was born in Dublin and died in Dublin. The title is DUBLIN people, so some of the scenes must be from her experiences.
I'm also from coutryside, so the first story is quite interesting. I learned some small things from her. Even if you are not from coutryside, there are some small but important things to learn for you. I recommend you to read this, especially the first story!
