This book was created by David Guterson and this main focused place is the island of San Piedro.
What do you image about this title "Snow Falling on Cedars" ?? This book was exactly focused on "prejudice" and the main person is Kabuo Miyamoto who worked as a fishing man. He was Japanese American and the era he lived was very bad for Japanese American because of The Second war. The war was ended in the autumn of 1954, but this memories werre strongly remained, therefore people whose origin was Japanese were had "prejudice". The man Kabuo was really sad person. He had a fishing job and though his work was so hard, but it would be better compare to his life after that. One day, an accident happened and this was a murder case. Everyone suspected him first. What do you think about the reason?...
The answer was because "HE WAS JAPANESE AMERICAN". He became a accused man. Maybe you think it is so sad and terrible, however, this kind of case often happened after the war. No one forget the attacking by Japanese. These are obsolutely not forgave thing, but "prejudice" was in this era and these are also fact...
This book shows us real mierable fact. No one want to admit these sorrow happens, however, we should remember these facts. You will feel something after you read this book, and I am sure you will think about"discrimination". Do you think Japan has still view of prejudice or discrimination..I mean both Japanese has these toward foreigner and Japanese are treated rough from other country's people. We do not have many opportunities about unfair facts, especially prejudice, but we have to accept these things and this book shows one way that we can feel or think about these very deeply.
If your field is "world", you should read it...★*☆*★。。
