This book was written by Kazou Ishiguro in 1989, and published as a movie in 1993. The stage is 1900s England. The main character is Steven worked in Darlington Hall as a butler under Mr Frreaday, a wealthy American owner of the hall. One day, Mr Farraday worried Steven's overworking, so gave Steven 1 week holiday for travering to England. At frist Steven rejected the offer, but he received a letter from Miss Kenton is Steven's old coworker and he had not seen for 20 years. Then he started his journey with his old memory in Darlington Hall.
After reading this book at first, I couldn't understand and feel the beauty or good points. But second time, after Chris's lecture, I could feel Steven's lonelyness or sadness. In this story, Steven is speaker. He spoke many things, but all things didn't include his curious or thought. He is living only as a perfect butler. I recomend this book and read it again to again.
