This is the story is a memoir about a girl,
called Chiyo around the era at World war Ⅱ. One day, she was send to Okiya in Kyoto where geisha lived. At
Okiya, she had to do everything for her older sisters. However, one of her old
sister, Hatumomo was really mean to Chiyo because she had beautiful gray eyes. Chiyo
tried to be a great geisha in Kyoto more than Hatumomo. When she turned to be a
geisha, her name changed as Sayuri. As she was becoming a popular geisha, there
was her client she liked. Can she become a great geisha than Hatumomo? What is
going to happen to her love?
I definitely recommend all of you to read
this book. Before I read this book, I did not even understand what geisha is.
But as I was reading it, I could not stop reading and getting to know about
geisha. It is also great to know some specific Japanese term which used by
geisha. You will get strong messages from this book when you finish reading
this book. You might be surprised how strong she is!!! I also would like to recommend
to foreigners who are interested in Japanese culture.
This story made into a movie called Sayuri
in Japanse, so I want to watch it this weekend.
