Captain Corelli's Mandolin

The background of this story is WAR (WWII), and some parts are based on historical facts. I thought that Corelli was a protagonist, and I said it to Cris last Reading class. But I realized that this might be wrong after I came home and read it again. Even though this title is "Captain CORELLI's Mandolin", this story is like a biography of Pelagia who is Greek. Corelli is not Greek but Italian. He came to Greek as invader. And he felt in love with Pelagia, However, she had her fiance, Mandoras who was fighting the Italian army and hated Italian. And she was going to marry Corelli during her fiance was fighting for Greek. Mandra heard the news after he came back, and...

I don't like the stories about war. The wars change people and destroy happy life. I won't read this again, but it's good for me to know the fact how the war was terrible. I live in Japan and don't know about war well, that's why I have to know what exactly the wars are.

Finally I want you to know there was a man who loved Corelli and died for him. Corelli didn't know his strong feeling for Corelli. He was the bravest man in this book, I think.

  1. Hi Eri! Yeah, this book was a bit difficult for me to read, but it tells me what the 'war' is. And it was my first time to learn about Second World War except for Japan and the U.S. It was a really good opportunity to know about that!
And I want to watch the movie based on this book. Shall we watch it together someday?
