The author of this book, John Grisham is one of the most popular authors around the world. His first two books, ‘A Time to Kill’ and ‘The Firm’ made him famous. His other books are ‘The Pelican’, ‘The Client’ and so on. And many of them have also become movies. (Actually, I love the movie ‘The Client’!) He became a lawyer after graduating from college in 1981, but he became a full-time writer.
Rudy Bayer is about to finish law school but he loses his first job before graduating! He was shocked, but he finally got a job. Then Dot and Bud Black ask for his help as a lawyer in their fight against a big insurance company ‘Great Benefit’. Their son, Donny Ray is going to die without transplant but the company refused to pay for it. He struggles to win though he knows it is a tough case. Unfortunately there are many problems around him. Can Rudy, inexperienced student, give a hope to Black Family? Can he win? And how about his life so far?
I think the theme of this book is making an effort or struggling, but I am not sure. Honestly, it was hard for me to find it. However, you can find out the difference of court system between in the U.S. and Japan.
At first, it was really hard to read through this book, there are so many characters that it was hard to understand. But suddenly, it becomes interesting!!! I couldn’t stop reading!!! Trust me! It is a very interesting novel, so you should read it! I recommend this to you!
