This book was witten in 1991 by John Grisham who is a American novelist. He wrote many legal suspense stories. This book was his secound novels, and became a movie in 1993. The main character was acted by Tom Cruise.

First, the main character of this book is Mitchell McDeere who is twenty-years old. He was graduated in the top five from Harvard Law School. He was not only smart but also white,handsome and tall. Besides he had a beautiful wife, Abby. One day, he was offered a job at the super-rich low firm. The firm promised him to give much pay, a big house, a high quality car and so on, so he dicided to work in there, and he was assigned to the tax office. However, one day two his cowoker died in a mysterious death suddenly. This accident was a chance to find unbelievable fact. He heard Tarrance who is in FBI that the firm had something to do with Mafia, and did dirty works. In fact, he was bugged all his phone calls using a tiny microphone by the firm. The FBI wanted to speak him. He began to gather evidences of their dirty works with FBI, but the firm also noticed his action. They tried to stop it and kill him, so he encountered many difficulties............

I think theme of this book is suspense, and also felt it is a little complicated for me. It had quick evolution and often changed scene. There are many characters, but thay need to make this story interesting. It was difficult to definitely understand. I was confused, but the contents of this story was interesting. Because I love suspense stories like this. I could felt thrill and excitement. I recommend you watching the movie. Maybe, it is easier to understand than reading book. If you have a time, you watch it. I'm sure you can feel the fun of suspense.
