       This book was written in 1997 by Charles Frazier. The story of this book is based on American Civil War(1861-65). You might feel sad, depress and how terrible war is this! after finished reading this book. There is a man called Inman. He was a solider and went to dangerous  journey to peruse women who he loved. There were many difficulties to overcome his wish, to meet her. He made such a decision but the women called Ada doesn’t show any interests to him at all. Ada was also had many bitter past experiences and had to live alone at first. Those who lived in this war, many people had dead because of lack of food or they might be killed by shooting or violence. Inman felt like he was in hell, but still never gave up to alive. The cold mountain sound like scary, dark, unhappy but this is WAR. People lost everything such as house, friends, parents and even human kindness. War makes people change a lot and involves them tragedy.

I think there were many men like Inman during the war. Most of the women would wait until their husband back from the war, but they might never back again. So it is rare that man comes back and Inman must be lucky and brave man. He would be alive with holding survivor’s guilt and I fell really sorry for him for some reason.

To talk about war is quite difficult. I have three unforgettable Japanese war, that are Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Okinawa war. As you know, these war are so terrible. On the other hand, Japanese also damaged other country. These war are not happened so long time ago, just 50 to 60 tears ago. To accept that kind of war which actually happened is shocking for me. But only we can do is to think about the meaning of war and peace, and avoid fading of war memories. Thank you for reading.
